While you sleep, your body continues working, and SpO₂ (blood oxygen saturation) is one of the signals that can be monitored overnight.

Tracking your oxygen levels during the night can help identify drops that may occur while you sleep. Repeated drops in oxygen levels can be associated with breathing disturbances that may disrupt your sleep.

What is SpO₂ and why does it matter?

SpO₂ measures the percentage of oxygen in your blood. It is a key indicator of how well your body is being oxygenated, and it plays a pivotal role in ensuring your organs and tissues receive the oxygen they need to function optimally ¹.

Stable oxygen levels during sleep generally indicate that your blood is carrying oxygen effectively. Drops or repeated fluctuations may be linked to breathing disturbances at night or other factors that can affect your sleep.

 

How should you interpret your SpO₂ percentage?

In healthy individuals, blood oxygen levels typically range between 95% and 100%, whether asleep or awake².

However, prolonged or repeated breathing interruptions during sleep can cause oxygen levels to drop. Blood oxygen saturation during sleep is generally considered low if it falls below 95%. Medical attention may be recommended if it drops below 92%3.
