What is Device Diagnostic? | ResMed UK

Device Diagnostic

As time goes on, you might wonder whether your device is still working properly while you sleep. ResMed takes product usability, safety and performance seriously. That’s why Air11™ devices have an innovative device diagnostic feature.

How does Device Diagnostic work?

During the device cool-down period, after your therapy has stopped, device diagnostic takes a brief, 10-second excerpt of internal device sounds from the motor and turbine and analyses them to verify if your device noise levels meet our quality standards. When device diagnostic is running, your screen will display the following message: “Device Diagnostic in progress, this will take 10 secs.”. You can choose how frequently you’d like device diagnostic to run these checks or turn it off altogether.

Please note that device diagnostic captures information about the internal sound of the machine using an acoustic sensor. It does not capture any sounds from outside the device. In order to conserve privacy, the device converts auditory information to code prior to transmission.

Acoustic Sensor technology

Built into every Air11 device, acoustic sensor technology helps monitor hardware reliability and aims to provide future innovation in ResMed CPAP therapy solutions. Designed with strict privacy protections, the acoustic sensor enables ResMed to deploy features such as Device Diagnostic and AcousticSignal.
