Travelling with your Narval CC device

Whether you are on holiday or travelling for work, travelling can be tiring, especially if your sleep is less restful than usual.

The good news is that your Narval CC device is small and lightweight. It is easy to take with you wherever you go, so you can continue to enjoy the benefits of your treatment even when you are away from home.

Travel preparation

Whether you are going away for the weekend, camping, travelling by car or going abroad, a few simple precautions are all you need to travel with peace of mind with your Narval CC device.

Before you leave, it’s important to have at least the following information with you:

your prescription and the name of your treatment (Narval CC mandibular advancement device);
the name and contact details of your dental practitioner and, if applicable, your sleep doctor.

Also remember to put together a few essentials for maintaining your appliance:

its storage box
a denture brush or a toothbrush that you only use for cleaning your

Narval CC appliance

if possible, a few antibacterial denture cleanser intended for orthodontic appliances
a small bottle of drinking water if you are planning long journeys

Protect your device

Ensure your device is clean and dry before you store it.
To protect your Narval CC appliance, store it in its storage box at room temperature in a dry place away from direct sunlight
Avoid leaving the orthosis in a car in direct sunlight or near a heat source (radiator, exposed windscreen, etc.).

Remember to maintain good hygiene when travelling

Continue to clean your Narval CC device every night using lukewarm drinking-water and a denture brush or a toothbrush that you only use for cleaning your Narval CC appliance.
If you are staying somewhere where the tap water is not drinkable, use bottled lukewarm drinking-quality water for cleaning.
Twice a week, perform thorough cleaning (using an antibacterial denture cleanser intended for orthodontic appliances).

Anticipate the unexpected

If you change accommodation frequently (touring, road trip, etc.), get into the habit of always storing your Narval CC in the same place in your belongings to avoid forgetting it.
If your device is lost or damaged during your trip, contact your practitioner as soon as possible to find out what to do.
If, for exceptional reasons, you need to spend one or more nights without wearing your orthosis, we recommend informing your doctor, who can assess your situation and provide appropriate guidance if needed.

Tips for travelling with your oral appliance

Should I put my device in the cabin or in the hold?

Ideally, keep your Narval CC in its box in your cabin luggage.

What should I do if I cannot clean my device properly while travelling?

At a minimum, rinse it thoroughly with lukewarm drinking water and brush it with a clean brush. As soon as you can, resume your complete cleaning routine.

Can I wear it on short train or plane journeys?

Narval CC is small discreet and designed to be worn while sleeping. If you sleep during a long journey, you can wear it as you would at home, provided you can clean it properly after use.
