Unique to Resmed’s AirTouch F20, our new UltraSoft memory foam cushion adapts to your facial profile, seals naturally and prevents leaks for a light and gentle experience of sleep therapy. Foam has unique properties that provide less friction and contact pressure than a standard silicone cushion, even when it’s sealed firmly against your face. This reduces the likelihood of red facial marks. And because foam is permeable, it allows a very small amount of air to pass through your cushion – providing a more natural sleeping experience without compromising your therapy.

How do I fit my AirTouch F20 mask?

Fitting your AirTouch F20

1. Unclip the EasyClick Magnets.

2. With the mask held against your face, pull the headgear over your head. Ensure the top of the mask cushion is sitting comfortably at the top of your nasal bridge. The bottom of your headgear should settle comfortably at the top of your neck – with the top of the headgear sitting on your crown.

3. Bring each of the magnets up to meet their corresponding clips on the frame.

4. Adjust the tabs on the upper headgear straps.

5. Adjust the tabs on the lower headgear straps.

6. With your device still switched off, connect your device tubing to your mask elbow.

7. Connect the elbow to your mask.

8. To ensure your fit will work with your therapy: switch on your device and position yourself as if you are to begin therapy (e.g. lying down in bed).

9. Adjust your upper straps.

10. Adjust your lower straps.

11. Practice reseating your cushion – pull your mask away from your face, allow your cushion to reassume its natural shape, and then resettle your cushion on your face, with the top of the cushion sitting at the top of your nasal bridge.

Managing leaks with your AirTouch F20

1. Leak often occurs when your mask’s seal is compromised by movement, incorrect fitting or improper sizing.

2. To find a source of leak, run your finger along the edge of your mask’s seal. Once located, adjust your headgear.

3. Resolve any leak in the upper part of your mask by adjusting your upper straps.

4. Resolve lower mask leak with your lower straps.

5. If leak persists, reseal by turning off your device, pulling your mask away from your face, allowing your cushion to reassume its natural shape, and then resettling your mask cushion on your face, with the top of the cushion sitting at the top of your nasal bridge.

6. If leak continues, you may need a different size mask. Try our sizing guide or speak to your healthcare provider about getting a different size mask.

Maintaining the AirTouch F20

1. To maintain therapy performance, the mask should be checked regularly for signs of damage and deterioration.

2. When cleaning the mask, you should also check each component for damage. Cushion, frame, tubing, elbow and headgear should all be regularly checked for cracks and tears.

3. If any component of the mask is cracked or torn, it may be damaged and in need of replacement.

4. It’s recommended to replace the mask cushion monthly.

Cleaning the AirTouch F20 (Daily)

1. Disassemble mask.

2. If required, wipe your cushion with a CPAP wipe or equivalent and then allow to dry. Important – do not get cushion wet.

3. Rinse frame and elbow under running water. Clean each component with a soft bristle brush.

4. Soak components in warm water with mild liquid detergent for up to ten minutes.

5. Shake components in water.

6. Brush moving parts of elbow and around vent holes.

7. Brush areas of frame where arms connect, and inside and outside the frame where the elbow connects.

8. Rinse components under running water.

9. Leave components to air dry out of direct sunlight – making sure to squeeze the arms of the frame to ensure excess water is removed.

Cleaning the AirTouch F20 (Weekly)

1. Disassemble mask. Magnets can remain attached to headgear during cleaning.

2. Handwash headgear in warm water with mild liquid detergent.

3. Rinse headgear under running water. Inspect to ensure headgear is clean and detergent free. Wash and rinse again, if necessary.

4. Squeeze headgear to remove excess water.

5. Leave headgear to air dry out of direct sunlight.

Contraindication

Masks with magnetic components are contraindicated for use by patients where they, or anyone in close physical contact while using the mask, have the following:

  • Active medical implants that interact with magnets (i.e., pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD), neurostimulators, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) shunts, insulin/infusion pumps)
  • Metallic implants/objects containing ferromagnetic material (i.e., aneurysm clips/flow disruption devices, embolic coils, stents, valves, electrodes, implants to restore hearing or balance with implanted magnets, ocular implants, metallic splinters in the eye)
Warning

Keep the mask magnets at a safe distance of at least 6 inches (150 mm) away from implants or medical devices that may be adversely affected by magnetic interference. This warning applies to you or anyone in close physical contact with your mask. The magnets are in the frame and lower headgear clips, with a magnetic field strength of up to 400mT. When worn, they connect to secure the mask but may inadvertently detach while asleep. Implants/medical devices, including those listed within contraindications, may be adversely affected if they change function under external magnetic fields or contain ferromagnetic materials that attract/repel to magnetic fields (some metallic implants, e.g., contact lenses with metal, dental implants, metallic cranial plates, screws, burr hole covers, and bone substitute devices). Consult your physician and manufacturer of your implant / other medical device for information on the potential adverse effects of magnetic fields.
